Client-based pricing FAQ (US/CA)

note icon

Note

This article applies to firms in the US and Canada on client-based pricing . If your firm is on seat-based pricing (legacy), see the seat-based pricing FAQ .

1. How does TaxDome pricing work?

There’s one plan , priced by the clients you serve. It starts at $1,500 a year ($2,000 CAD in Canada), covering your first 150 active accounts, and includes up to 20 team members and every core feature. Past 150, you add accounts in packs or on demand.

2. What counts as an active account?

An account counts as active when your firm or the client does something with it in TaxDome, such as issuing an invoice, creating a job, or uploading a document . Emails your firm sends and documents added with the web migration tool don’t count. Several people on one account count as one: pricing counts accounts, never contacts.

3. If a client becomes active in January, do I pay for them again later in the year?

No. Once an account becomes active, it’s covered for your entire plan year and counted once, no matter how much work you do together after that.

4. What happens when I go past 150 accounts?

Each additional active account is billed on demand ($15, or $20 CAD in Canada). Packs, bought when you subscribe or renew, cost less per account, and the larger the pack, the lower the price.

5. Does my active account count ever reset?

Yes. The count only grows during your plan year and restarts at zero at your renewal . After the restart, an account counts again only once it has activity. Archive clients you no longer work with to keep their accounts inactive.

6. How many team members are included?

Up to 20 at any one time, with no per-person charges, so adding people doesn’t change your price. Seasonal staff join and leave your team as you need them.

7. What if I have more than 20 team members?

Contact TaxDome Sales to build a custom plan for your team: any size team, with your add-ons bundled into one price.

8. What if I have more than 3,000 active accounts?

Contact TaxDome Sales to build a custom plan for your firm, with room for your client base to keep growing.

9. I’m an existing customer—when do I move?

Nothing changes for you right now. Your firm moves to client-based pricing at your first renewal on or after January 1, 2027. Your renewal comes with an offer prepared for your firm, which you can see in Team & plans before anything changes.

10. How do I know which pricing my firm is on?

Go to Settings > Team & plans and open the Plan overview tab. If you see an Active accounts section, you’re on client-based pricing. If there’s no Active accounts section, you’re on seat-based pricing (legacy).

11. Does client-based pricing apply outside the US and Canada?

Yes, for firms that sign up from November 2, 2026, in their local currency. See client-based pricing for firms outside the US and Canada .

12. What happens if an invoice isn’t paid?

TaxDome retries the payment. If it still doesn’t go through, access to your firm is blocked until the invoice is paid.

13. What happens to accounts added on demand during the year?

They stay active until your plan year ends. Unused pack accounts expire at your renewal date.

14. I’m on the Business plan today—do I keep TaxDome Client Care?

Yes, until your current license ends. After that, Client Care is an add-on at $100 a month, available to every firm.

15. Is the AI add-on included?

No. The AI add-on is available to US firms and billed separately at $200 a month, after a 14-day free trial.
