Automation Examples (Basic): Create Tasks

Let your pipeline do the work for you. Want to delegate work without actually delegating? Automate creating new tasks for team members at any stage of your pipeline. 

Add an Automation

You’ll need a Create Task template. (For more details, go to Custom Task Templates.) 

Once you have the template, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings from the left sidebar, select Pipelines, then click on the pipeline name or on CREATE PIPELINE.

2. Select the stage, click + Add automation, then select the Create Task automation from the pull-down menu.

3. Select a task template for the automation.

4. Toggle on Assign task to job assignee if needed. When toggled on, you’re giving the task to the team member in charge of the job. 

5. Click SAVE to keep your changes. Once the automaton is added, you’ll see it on the pipeline page by clicking the automation icon above the stage.

Once a job moves to a stage with a Create Task automation, a notification with the automation appears. Here, you can add, delete or change task assignees if needed, then click MOVE. The task will automatically get linked to the job.

If you don’t want the task to be automatically created, deselect the action.
