Inbox+ notifications

Inbox+ isn’t just for browsing through email. It’s where you start and finish your projects, receive important notifications, create tasks, view documents and messages, save attachments, download and more, with everything on a single easy-to-navigate page.

Inbox+ notifications at a glance

You get a notification in your Inbox+ the moment something happens on TaxDome—covering everything from client activity to team mentions and automated job results.

Here is what you can do with Inbox+ notifications:

  • Track client activity—See events done by clients, such as uploading a document or submitting an organizer.
  • Communicate with your team internally—Receive tasks and mentions from colleagues throughout TaxDome.
  • Track automated and bulk actions—Monitor the results of bulk actions and job automation, then fix possible problems, such as failed bulk organizer sends.

Check out notification types to see what triggers each one and what it contains.

By default, team members get a notification when a client whose account they follow performs an action. Firm owners get notified of team members’ actions, but team members aren’t notified about each other’s or the firm owner’s actions unless directly mentioned.

You can change your notification preferences at any time by going to your profile > Account settings, or click Manage notifications in Inbox+ to open them in a new tab. You can also be notified on the go via the TaxDome mobile app .

Work with the notifications list

The Inbox+ page lets you manage your notifications by navigating between folders, sorting, filtering, and archiving them.

View and navigate notifications

In the left menu bar, the green circle near the Inbox+ icon shows how many new (not archived) notifications you have. The circle disappears when all your notifications have been checked off as archived .

Notifications are grouped into folders in the Shared section on the left:

  • All notifications: Every notification you haven’t archived yet.
  • Mentions: Notifications where a teammate mentioned you, with its own counter.
  • Archived: Notifications you’ve already archived.

All entities mentioned in notifications are clickable so that you can navigate to:

Notifications on the Inbox screen are always displayed chronologically, most recent on top. Tap a notification to get more info.

Some notifications allow extra actions:

  • For a notification about an uploaded document, tap the file to open a menu where you can edit, move, print, download, or delete it.
  • For a notification about a new reply or an updated client task in messages, tap it to open the corresponding message thread.
  • For a notification about an email, tap it to open the email in your email app and reply directly.

Sort notifications

By default, notifications are displayed chronologically. You can also choose to sort by Date (newest first/oldest first) or Account name (A to Z/Z to A) to quickly see all notifications related to a specific client account and handle them together. Sorting works with all filters you apply (account, time interval, type) and stays the same when you switch between folders .

Filter notifications

Filters help narrow your notifications list. For example, find all notifications about invoices paid by all clients.

To filter a notifications list:

  1. Click Filter.

  2. Use filtering by account name and/or notification type—both let you select multiple values, with a search box for account name. You can also filter by time interval. For the full list of notification types, see Available filters below.

  3. Click Apply. The selected filters remain the same when you leave and reopen Inbox+.

You can reset the filter settings or, opposite, save them as a template .

On the Inbox screen, filter notifications by the type or account they’re related to, and switch between the To-do and Archived tabs.

Archive notifications

Notifications stay in All notifications until you archive them, so you can keep one as a reminder to act on later. Until then, they also count toward the notification counter in the sidebar.

You can archive a notification for yourself only, or for all team members who received it. Archived notifications are kept for six months before being permanently deleted, and they show who archived them and when.

  • To archive notifications in bulk, select checkboxes next to the notifications, then either click Archive for me or Archive for everyone.
  • To archive a single notification, click the green checkmark next to it or expand it, then select one of the archiving options.

Note

Any team member can archive a notification they received for themselves. Archiving for all team members requires the Archive for all in Inbox+ access right , and isn’t available to solo team members. Transaction notifications always archive for you only, even with that access right, since they contain information unique to each team member.

Tap a notification on the Inbox screen and select Archive if you don’t want it displayed in the list. Switch between the To-do and Archived tabs to find it again.

Restore notifications

If you archived a notification by mistake, you can always restore it from the Archived folder. You’ve got the same options as for archiving—Restore for me and Restore for everyone—and you can do it either one by one or in bulk. The notification will then return to All notifications.
